Why Cadmium Telluride?

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is the leading semiconductor technology for creating high-performance, low-cost solar modules for large-scale installations.  A robust and mature technology that uses 98% less semiconductor than crystalline silicon modules, CdTe is a compound made from by-products of zinc and copper mining operations.

High Performance. Photovoltaics employing cadmium telluride perform better than crystalline silicon in both high temperature and low-light conditions leading to more energy produced per watt of capacity.  Modules currently available featuring efficiencies in excess of 10% and champion cells of 14% efficiency.

Low cost. CdTe Thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules offer the lowest-cost solar technology, allowing systems using Abound Solar's CdTe modules to deliver the lowest levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).

Sustainable. Cadmium and tellurium are by-products of the mining industry.

Recyclable. At the end of modules life, Abound Solar pays for recycling; 90% of materials are re-used to build the next generation of modules.

Durable. The use of tempered glass in manufacturing process results in superior module strength.

Guaranteed.  Abound provides an industry-leading warranty- 5 year on materials and workmanship/ 25 year power output guarantee for 90% of nominal output during first 10 years and 80% over 25 years.  Modules and manufacturing process have been certified by leading test labs and certification bodies.
