1991 -      Founder W.S. Sampath initiates research into vapor deposition at Colorado State University

1998 -      Develop pilot production process featuring inline deposition of cadmium telluride

2002 -      Secure initial key patent covering low-cost, high-throughput semiconductor deposition

2004 -      Scale-up pilot process from cells to small-scale modules with support from

                  National Renewable Energy Laboratory

2007 -      W.S. Sampath, Kurt Barth, and Al Enzenroth incorporate Abound Solar, then known as AVA Solar

2009 -      Begin  production in Longmont, Colorado, USA facility

2010 -      Secure $400M loan guarantee from US Department of Energy and bring total equity

                  investment in company to $260M

2011 -      Begin production capacity expansion, which will lead to 840MW nameplate capacity

                 when completed in 2014, and will result in the largest solar manufacturing plant

                 in the United States, located in Tipton Indiana
